Sweetwater Creek State Park is located in Douglas County, 15 miles from Atlanta. The park is named after Sweetwater Creek. The park offers hiking trails, camping, yurts, a visitor center, fishing, the George Sparks Reservoir, and the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company. The Visitor Center displays artifacts of Native Americans, the Civil War, and mounted animals and birds. We live closest to this park and visit often. Sunsets over the reservoir can be quite beautiful and sure to offer a great photo opportunity.
