Project Description
The hike to Clingmans Dome is only .5 miles on a paved path from the parking lot however it is all uphill and quite strenuous. It does however offer gorgeous views off the side of the mountain. Additionally the smell of the fir trees was amazing. Once you reach the top you a ascend a man-made structure that allows for 360 degree views from the top of Clingmans Dome, the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park at an elevation of 6643 feet! The sunset was absolutely beautiful from here.
